the pope doesn't need to reach out to the jews
as most of you already know, the pope was a former nazi. don't say he wasn't and that he was a child so he gets a mulligan because it really doesn't matter. at one time in his life he wanted to see the rest of the world bow down before 'the super race,' but now that's all changed or so we are meant to believe because the church wouldn't name someone who could be a closeted racist to the highest position within their organization (that's sarcasm). still, doesn't matter though. the pope does not need to reach out to the jewish people even if he says he is still a nazi today. all the pope has to do is teach the word of God to the catholic people. notice the bum didn't mention any other group of people. not baptists, muslims, buddhists, atheists or even the jews. the pope's sole purpose, or at least his ultimate purpose, is to lead the catholic people and no others. now, is the pope a recognizable figure - yes; is the pope a powerful figure who can influence over a billion people worldwide - yes; does the pope have the authority to assert a domain of influence over anyone who is not catholic - no. so why should he have to reach out to the jewish people? he isn't their leader, and won't pretend ever to be their leader. now, if he decides that he is, that's a different story but right now that just isn't the case.
the bum doesn't remember the pope making any plans to interact with the jewish people on a more regular basis anytime soon so why 'reach out to them?'

I am Jewish and I agree with you
that his job is to lead the Catholic Church. However Pope John Paul made efforts to reach out to Jewish people. The current Pope was a big part of the previous Pope's efforts according to Jewish
spokesmen.
The larger question is why does the media give three times the air time to critics as to supporters.
Would they do this with any other religion except Mormonism ?

Have you ever heard of the phrase - if it bleeds it leads? Conflict is what sells these days so of course they will allow people to critisize the Church more often than they allow people to voice their support for it. Also, I hear criticism of every religion. There is a lot of bitching to go around.

I have heard the expression it bleeds it leads. I saw it first hand in NYC durring the RNC.A hysterical woman screamed at Republicans you killed my brother in front of about fifty cameras.
I questioned her after the cameras left. Her brother was on an aircraft carrier and got washed overboard. This happens war or no war on aircraft carriers.
I disagree on the religion part. I have yet to see the level of nasty coverage on other religions. The Pope bashing is a bit too much.

mr. beakerkin, you can't be serious. how about 9/11 and islam, how about the 2004 election (and still today) and protestant christians, how about judiasm everytime something happens in the middle east? the only reason why catholicism is being attacked at the moment is because the mortal leader of the church has just been selected. its a major event.
sorry to hear about that woman's brother. also, the bum has to wonder how common that is at times of peace. sure it could happen and probably does but its probably very unlikely. but mr. beakerkin, the media overemphasizes some issues (the bum can't say that one as he didn't really hear about it until you mentioned it).
also who is this guy w/ the 167 iq?
