why should we care asked the bum

once again israel and ________ (fill in the blank with a country in the middle east) has been in the news again and the bum can't help but shrug his shoulders. while young, the bum has followed world news for close to fifteen years and can't remember a time when a month has gone by without hearing about news from this region. Do not get the bum wrong, what is going on in the middle east is important (right now there is suspicion that iran is developing a nuclear weapons program) but why is it more important than other regions of the world? i guess the bum isn't saying why should we care about whats going on in the middle east but rather why isn't equal coverage given to all areas of the world.

the bum personally believes the situation going on in eastern asia should be getting more coverage. we all know about how japan is an economic rival, but i am not sure most people understand how quickly china and india are challenging the economic stronghold, some say, the US has over the entire world. if economics isn't your cup of tea, there is the persistent civil wars going on in central america and in africa. the world has many problems and certainly the media organizations can't cover them all, but the bum wonders why the situation in the middle east is that much more pressing than other issues around the globe that it must monopolize the world news market in the united states.
