focus on the big picture said the bum

before the bum starts his post he wants to make certain facts known.

  1. he did not vote for bush but he did not vote for kerry either (yes, the bum is aware of what he just said).
  2. he tries his best to be objective.
that being said, the bum is tired of people (who he won't classify) who bash president bush. the bum isn't against criticizing a president but is sometimes against how and when it is done.

the bum reads blogs that are openly supportive of the president and others that wish they could relive the year 2000. what the bum notices about those who wish bush was never elected (those who want to relive the year 2000), the majority do not assess what he has done as whole throughout his his tenure but rather they choose to nitpick. they might focus in on him mispronouncing words or not making his points clear and the bum agrees those are two traits that a president shouldn't have but the bum certainly doesn't agree their should be a movement to oust the president just because of that. that being said, the bum proposes that those who do not support the president change the way they criticize the president.

do not just look solely on individual events but evaluate him with his entire term in mind. maybe you might realize that he isn't as bad as other presidents you admire. but most likely you will be stubborn and not change your mind. that's fine but start your arguments assessing his entire duration and then cite specific situations as support. in the bum's eye, doing it the other way around (citing a specific example and thus concluding he shouldn't be president) is assanine. if you fail/choose not to see the entire picture the bum thinks you have no basis for your arguments because you aren't keeping things in context.

the bum is not saying you shouldn't argue his day to day policies but every now and then please show the bum that you aren't just attacking the president because of what he did in one brief moment but rather you draw judgement about him based on a specific event it is just another example in a series of errors/bad judgements he has committed.
